Tyrannosaurus rex Dinosaur Skull BoneDescription: An obvious question is how does one ascertain that this is a T-rex skull section? The trained eye is capable of discerning the type of dinosaur from the morphology of the bone discovered. This T-rex bone segment has very large cells and a laminated look on the outside surface of the bone that identifies it as such. According to the expert field collector, “the chunk of T-Rex skull bone, as far as I can ascertain, originates from the base of the skull. Most likely, it is from between the brain case and the occipital condyle".

Any body part preserved from a Tyrannosaurus rex, or, other tyrannosaurid is valuable and highly collectable. If this is your passion look for my current and forthcoming catalogue postings. I have, or will have, a number of high quality body parts including teeth and bones.

Tyrannosaurus meaning 'tyrant lizard' was a genus of theropod dinosaur. The species Tyrannosaurus rex commonly abbreviated to T. rex, is a fixture in popular culture. Fossils are found in a variety of rock formations dating to the last three million years of the Cretaceous Period, approximately 68 to 65 million years ago. It was among the last non-avian dinosaurs to exist prior to the Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event. Like other tyrannosaurids, Tyrannosaurus was a bipedal carnivore with a massive skull balanced by a long, heavy tail.

Recently the Fossil Mall associates purchased a large lot of dinosaur, reptile and mammal material from our primary collector. He lives in Montana and has over fifteen years of field collecting experience. Ten days were spent in obtaining this lot. The fossils were discovered in Cretaceous stream channel deposits. Some were surface collected as float, many were partially eroded out of the low-lying surrounding gullies and bad lands. The work of discovery continued upon his return home. There the specimens had to be cleaned and identified, a long and tedious process that lasted many days. Upon completion, all the specimens were photographed, notated and submitted to us at the Fossil Mall for consideration of purchase. Needless to say, we bought the whole batch.

A word regarding the legality of these fossils. Our provider only collects on private ranch and farmlands of Montana and S. Dakota. His relationships with these landowners have been cultivated over many years of door knocking and often difficult negotiations. Our collector, in the beginning stage of a possible collecting arrangement, cannot even contemplate a deal until he has walked the land holdings to discover if there are ancient remains to be found.
