Athabaskia howelliDescription: A good specimen of the uncommon trilobite genus. This one is mid-sized and complete. It shows a bit of erosion to the glabella and pygidium. The right genal tip is buried under the matrix.

It is quite an athletic test to collect these trilobites. The hike up the Wellsville Mountains to the quarry site is long and steep. After the hike comes the digging. Then the trek back down with a pack full of heavy plates. Talk about rubber wobbly legs!
