Altiocullus drumensis TrilobiteDescription: Presented is a fascinating Altiocullus drumensis. Altiocculus drumensis is one of the most sought after species from the Marjum Formation. The most distinctive feature being the large number of thoratic segments.

One could approach this fossil with the attitude that it is disarticulated and not tightly preserved. My interpretation is one of wonder. It is a molt showing the escape route of the trilobite as it shed it’s outgrown carapace. Both free cheeks are resting on the thorax, the pygidium floating away. A brief ever so fleeting moment of this trilobites life captured in stone.
