Tricrepicephalus Utah TrilobitePerhaps the most valued trilobite species found in the Weeks Limestone is the impressively spiny Tricrepicephalus. This one is well centered on a solid piece of Weeks limestone. Weeks trilobites are known for their excellent 3D preservation and color.

I acquired this specimen with some trepidation, as the collector had done a substantial amount of reconstruction on the trilobite. In particular, the right side of the thorax, right genal spine and right pygidium spine. Overall, about 20% reconstruction. The other obvious problem is the slight disarticulation between the cephalon and thorax.

On the plus side, the price was too tempting to walk away from…. and…Tricrepicephalus are virtually impossible to obtain anymore. If you could find one in excellent condition, the price would easily be in the $3000.00 range. Not affordable for the vast majority of trilobite collectors. So, here it is, offered to you at a most tempting rate, a very, very rare Tricrepicephalus, warts and all.
