Description: Due to the closure of so many quarries in Ontario because of security concerns and abuse by collectors, the availability of these highly desirable Ceraurus trilobites have become acutely difficult. I managed to obtain this plate recently from one of the world’s foremost trilobite collectors. The limestone plate has three specimens aesthetically positioned in a most pleasing association. The primary specimen is just about perfect. It’s partner to the right is missing only the tips of the tail spines. The third specimen exhibits disarticulation of the lower thorax. All the specimens are fully 3D, vibrant, and inflated. Their color is a metallic brown that contrasts well against the gray matrix. Ceraurus matrenseris is one of the more uncommon Ceraurus species found in Ontario.
