Description: Here is one of the largest trilobites of the Order Lichida, Family Odontopleuridae known as Selenopeltis buchii. This particular genus derives its name from the dramatic pleural spines. There are THREE examples of this unusual trilobite present here. Such a massive (20 + kilos) specimen is difficult to remove intact. While there are several repairs to the matrix, this association is NOT a composite, with most of the original exoskeleton intact. A substantial amount of prep time goes into a dramatic specimen such as this, with a concomitant high end price for a most uncommon multiplate. It is, however, offered here at substantially less than the asking price of $6000 I saw at an auction site recently. This is a fine multiple example sure to become a most prized member of any collection.

Also see this single Selenopeltis.
