Septimopeltis TrilobiteDescription: A member of the Order Corynexochida, Family Styginidae from the Devonian deposits of Taouz, Morocco, this is an ENTIRELY NEW Thysanopeltis . It is distinguished by the fringing pygidial spines from Scabriscutellum, and from Scutellum by the ribbing of the pygidium. What makes this one distinctive is the fringing spines of the pygidium, something seen in only two other trilobites from the region, the uncommon Thysanopeltis speciosa and Thysanopeltis Type B. The difference here is the robust nature of the spines. This one is only the second I have been secure.

See my other offerings for examples of the other trilobites known as Thysanopeltis Type C, as well as an exceptional example of Thysanopeltis prepared in freestanding mode.
