Description: Here is an example of a most unusual trilobite. When I contacted one of the most experienced trilobite collectors, he indicated it was definitely an Homalonotid with similarities to the French taxon Iberocoryphe He further told me he had seen less than ten examples in 20 years. In looking at the American Museum of Natural History website I noticed a specimen labelled Iberocoryphe sp, so perhaps that assignment is valid. Given the fact that so many trilobites from Morocco are still in need of description, it is perhaps prudent to label it aff Iberocoryphe. It is quite 3-D in aspect, something not often seen in Ordovician trilobites. I have included several trilobite in-preparation photos. It is the ONLY example I have physically seen in over 20 years.
