Rare Eoharpes Ordovician TrilobitesDescription: This Harpid is presented here in the as-found state-all natural with NO restoration. The brick-red/orange color is typical for material from the Fezouata Formation, and results from oxidation of iron pyrite during diagenesis. The specimen most closely resembles Eoharpes criststus found in Portugal and France. The fine details of the exoskeleton are well preserved with the pitting of the cephalic rim that served as part of the trilobite’s filter-feeding mechanism clearly evident. It is a part/counterpart example with the positive seen on the larger matrix half on the left side of the photo showing both halves. This is but the SECOND I have ever been able to secure.
