Trilobites Order Lichida, Family Odontopleuridae

Geological Time: Middle Devonian

Size (25.4 mm = 1 inch): Trilobite is 35 mm long by 30 mm wide (with spines) on a 70 mm by 70 mm matrix

Fossil Site: Cornuproetus Couche, Jebel Ofaten, Morocco

Description: Fine example of the genus, this is a member of the genus Leonaspis. While some prefer Kettnersapis over Leonaspis based upon the pygidial spines, it is definitely a desirable member of the taxon. This one possesses a distinctive set of mid-pleural nodes on the thoracic segments, something I have only seen before in a very few examples of Kettneraspis prepared by Bob Carroll, Clarita, Oklahoma.
