Minicryphaeus Moroccan TrilobiteDescription: Elegant example of a member of the Order Phacopida, Family Acastidae with many fine details present. Notice the fine eye facets present on this specimen. The Asteropyginae recently have undergone revision. This one has been recently named Minicryphaeus giganteus, a name that seems a contradiction in terms, such as “jumbo shrimp”. The other memnbers of the genus are substantially smaller, but share many of the same features. Previously only known from the type location of Jebel El Mrakib, this one comes from a new location for the taxon known as Tafraoute.
