Metascutellum Moroccan TrilobiteDescription: A member of the Order Corynexochida, Family Styginidae from the Middle Devonian deposits of Jebel Issoumour, Morocco, this is a member of the genus Metascutellum. The pustulose nature distinguishes it from most other scutellids with the exception of some in the genus Scutellum. This one most closely resembles Metascutellum pustulatum, but that species typically does not display the fine axial and occipital spines seen here. Consequently, this one is either an as yet undescribed subspecies or a new species altogether.
