Description: I have just recently been able to secure a selection of Early Silurian trilobites from Northeastern Quebec Province, Canada. This is another in a series which I will be posting. all of which are quite rare. To my knowledge this encrinurid trilobite Rielaspis elegantulus has never been offered before. Once considered a member of the genus Encrinurus, it was placed in the new genus by Chatterton et al in 2004. While consisting only of a cronidium, it is still of value to the species collector, available here at a low price.

In general, Silurian trilobites tend to scarcity in the fossil record. This is because of the end-Ordovician mass extinction event, second only second to the (P-T) extinction at end of Paleozoic in severity, had pretty much devastated invertebrates inhabiting the continental shelves.
