Neltneria termieri TrilobiteDescription: This plate displays a fine example of a member of the order Redlichiida known as Neltneria termieri. Coming from the Issafen Formation deposits of Morocco, it is firmlyGigantopygus placed in the Early Cambrian. Recent interest in Issafen trilobites has led to increased digging in the region, with stunning specimens such as this the result. Note there is a partial second trilobite seen on the plaque. The distinctive pygidium shows it to be Gigantopygus. I have included an artitist’s rendering so that you can see what one of these large trilobites looked like in life. You can also see a dramatic specimen of Gigantopygus in my other postings.
