Solnhofen Fossil Lobster Eryma modestiformisDescription: Presented is an excellent quality specimen from a classic location. The preservation of the body and head show wonderful detail, including the postulate exoskeleton. The antennae and legs are well preserved. Unlike so many Solnhofen fossils this crayfish has a light brown color which contrasts well against the tan dendrite covered thick plate. The tail is present though a bit opaque. There has been no enhancement or reconstruction of this specimen. These deposits were formed in a warm salt-water lagoon. All kinds of plants and animals were incredibly well preserved, including soft-bodied organisms and the world's most famous fossil Archaeopteryx, early bird.
