Lygodium kaulfussiiDescription: This is an example of the Schizaeaceae (Curly Grass Family) family. The brown color is a fine contrast to the light shale matrix. The extant examples are true climbers that twine 60-90 cm high on saplings along watercourses from Florida to New England, as a result of introduction from native locations in Europe and Asia. This is a remarkably detailed example showing the venation quite clearly. The plate is solid and would make a nice display or collection piece.

The Green River Formation holds one of the world’s richest depositories of fossil leaves, plants, vines and aquatic vegetation. My provider alone shows over seventy species he collects. Surely there are many more found. Not only is the variety of plant life phenomenal, the preservation is often superb. The Green River fossils I am offering are collected with the permission of the property owner on privately held land.
