Description: Only rarely when spiny sea urchins die do the spines remain in place. At the Brownwood Lake Spillway this phenomenon takes place and fantastically preserved specimens like the one presented are found.

The specimens are found in mudstone and skillfully curated to reveal the immaculately preserved spines and body. Note there is an unidentified crinoid calyx and bryozan also preserved on the plate. The spines are life-like, fully 3D and reveal extraordinary detail. This exquisite plate exhibits great presence and is quite displayable.
