Description: This is one of the more unusual acquisitions I have made recently. Crocodile, turtle and snake eggs from the Eocene of France. They were laid on the banks of a fresh water lake approximately 50 million years ago, and were exhumed from an old abandoned quarry. Over 44 vertebrate species were described from this quarry by the famous paleontologist J. J. Jaeger, from Montepllier University, 30 years ago. This crocodile egg would belong to one two species, Allognathosuchus sp or Pristichampus rollinati. It is not possible to determine the taxa that laid the turtle and snake eggs. Please note that about 20% of the turtle egg is missing. The specimen is in a hard whitish limestone matrix. The collection and preparation of these is quite difficult and time consuming according to my French collector.
