Trinucleus fimbriatusDescription: Well-preserved member of the Order Asaphida, Family Trinucleidae, this one is from the patronymic genus. The genal spines and cephalic pits (fenestrae) are evident. The fenestrae are the means by which this trilobite filtered detritus from the seafloor. The trilobite presumably hovered at the seafloor, using its legs to kick up particulates which then passed through the cephalic ring. See my other offerings for a spectacular death assemblage of the trilobite.
