DechenellaDescription: A fine example of a member of the Order Proetida, Family Proetidae, this is a rarely-offered example of the Order known as Dechenella burmeisteri. It is thought that this one may have lain just at or below the surface of the seafloor, with its broad cephalon serving to keep it stable while searching for a meal in the Devonian seas. The Proetidae were among the last of the trilobites to go extinct in the Permian over 100 million years later.
