Platyscutellum Moroccan TrilobiteDescription: This trilobite is a member of the Order Corynexochida, Family Styginidae. It is distinguished by lack of fringing pygidial spines from Thysanopeltis, and from Scabriscutellum by the ribbing of the pygidium (see my other listings for examples). There are many scutellids found in Morocco; I consulted one of the foremost collectors in the US who has an extensive collection of both trilobites and trilobite literature and have his opinion that it is an example of Platyscutellum. See my other offerings for a Platyscutellum prepared freestanding.
