Tricrepicephalus coriaDescription: This is an exceptionally rare example of the trilobite Tricrepicephalus coria from the House Range of Utah. Some assign this one as T. texanus, but there is still some debate on that score. It is sought after by collectors in part due to the resemblance it bears to the genus Ceraurus. The dark exoskeleton contrasts well with the rose-colored matrix, a color seen when the matrix has been weathered (indeed, a view of the matrix from the side shows several pinkish layers). This one has had some restoration to the axial and distal part of the right pleural lobe that detracts but little from such a spectacular specimen. Pristine examples can easily fetch upwards of $2000 and more, rendering this an affordable member of such a rare trilobite.
