Rare Russian Ordovician Trilobite Asaphus pseudoplatyurus
With Dramatic Genal Spines

Description: A well-inflated example of a scarce Asaphid, this is Asaphus pseudoplatyurus, a name derived from its strong resemblance to Asaphus platyurus, another trilobite with dramatic genal spines. Those of this taxon are even more extensive; there are also differences in the shape of the cephalon and pygidium as well. This one has been painstakingly prepared with the genals freestanding for a dramatic effect. The golden Calcite exoskeleton is complemented by the white limestone matrix which highlights the sweeping genal spines even further. This one is offered at an exceptionally reasonable price for such a rare example of the genus Asaphus.
