Description: Elegant example of a member of the newly-erected (2002) Order Harpetida, with many fine details present. This one is thought to be a member of the genus Bohemoharpes by one of the foremost US trilobite collectors. Whatever the correct taxonomy, this is a rare member of the Harpetidae I have only been able to obtain once before. Notice the fine pitting of the preglabellar ring. This one was well able to stay at the surface of the seafloor by virtue of the dramatically curving “shield”. It has been prepared to allow for easy viewing of the body which is quite prone, somewhat unusual for the Harpetidae. The rich dark exoskeleton is well-contrasted to the white matrix block, showing this fine example to best advantage atop its pedestal.
