Gerastos granulosus Proetid Moroccan TrilobiteDescription: A fine example of a member of the Order Proetida, Family Proetidae with many fine details present, this one has genal spines that are more pointed than the typical ones seen, making for an unusual opportunity to acquire a less common example of the taxon. The most diagnostic feature of this taxon is a granulose cephalon for which the genus is named. The Proetidae were among the last of the trilobites to go extinct in the Permian over 100 million years later. This is a fine example of the type, well-positioned upon its matrix base.
