Fossil
Ammonite Pendants Set in Sterling Silver
Name: Cleoniceras besairei
Geological Time:
Middle Cretaceous, Albian Stage
Fossil Site: Tulear, Madagascar
The hand-selected choice ammonites has been cut in half and
polished to reveal the internal details. The back side is left
natural, with some showing the mother-of-pearl luster of the
original external shell.. The individual chambers are filled
with richly colored Calcite crystals of differing shades, with
the septa (divisions) between each chamber distinctly visible,
making for a superb display piece. The ammonites are the species
Cleoniceras besairei and come from the Cretaceous deposits in
Madagascar that date to more than 100 million years ago when
dinosaurs ruled the land. They are each still unique renderings
of nature, so choose the colors and size that suit your fancy.
The
hand-made sterling silver mountings are heavy and thick as shown
to the upper left, adding to the stunning beauty of the pieces.
As they are fine silver, they will need occasional cleaning
with a rouge cloth to restore their dramatic luster.
