Nephalicephalus Trilobites Description: This trilobite has only recently been described, and I have yet to see the pertinent literature reference. Based upon its morphological similarities with Menomonia, Dresbachia, and Densonella, I assume it has been placed in the same family (Menomoniidae). All are highly-sought examples, and few collectors have seen one of this new member of the “club”. Most are found bent in half, making these prone examples highly desirable. What is most unusual is the fact that a pair of examples on found in close association, the ONLY such example I have ever come across. Note the numerous ostracods present as well.
