This fossilized egg, Dendroolithus sp., is from a Hadrosaurid dinosaur (commonly just called Hadrosaur or Hadrosaurus). Hadrosaurids (meaning "bulky lizards") were a family of duck-billed, herbivorous dinosaurs that laid their eggs in nests with a dozen or more eggs. While hatching and scavenging would normally destroy most eggs, occasional eggs were fossilized as seen here. Dinosaur eggs such as this with essentially complete, intact shell are highly desirable.

This particular egg has been carefully cleaned with extraneous matrix carefully removed, but has not been further cleaned with air-abrasion. More than 90% of the original shell is intact, making it a very good specimen.
