Green River Fossil Flight FeatherThe Green River Formation deposits of Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah are best known for their immaculately-preserved fish, but other examples are known as well, as this specimen attests. This is an example of a tertiary flight feather of an unknown bird. The flight feathers are divided into the primaries, secondaries, and tertiaries, with the tertiary feathers those closest to the body of the bird.
