Ursus speleaus Cave Bear Jawbone FossilAn impressive example of the right jawbone of the huge cave bear Ursus spelaeus that lived during the Pleistocene between 300,00 and 10,000 years ago. Cave bears were in excess of 3 meters tall when they stood on their hind legs, making it easy to understand why our ancestors revered them. This one has all the premolars and molars as well as the canine intact in their sockets.
