Remopleurides nanus Rare Russian TrilobiteDescription: Coming from the nearly half billion year old Middle Ordovician Asery Level deposits of the Wolchow River region near Saint Petersburg, Russia, this is an unusual example of a member of the Order Asaphida. Unlike most Asaphids from the region, this one is a member of the Family Remopleurididae. In fact, it is of the namesake genus, and is called Remopleurides nanus. They are small trilobites, and are rarely offered for sale. Here is a quality example of the type with genal and axial spines all prepared free of matrix. I apologize for the less than totally aesthetic presentation, but I chose not to remove it from the protective shipping container in order to avoid damaging the spines.
