Coming from the Middle Ordovician Upper Asery Level deposits near Saint Petersburg, Russia, this is an infrequently-offered trilobite known as Pseudobasilicus (formerly Basilicus) lawrowi, betrayed as such by the genal and pleural spines. This trilobite is rarely offered, and would make a key acquisition to any collection. This one is 3.2 inches long and 2.4 inches wide at the genal spines. In additional, there is a ventral example of the distal 3/4 ths of a second example 2.3 inches by 2.3 inches also present, making for an unusual double. The caramel-colored Calcite shell is quite evidently in a good state of preservation, with the trilobites dominating the 6.0 inch by 11.8 inch bed of limestone matrix.. Its low profile probably allowed it to escape detection by both predator and prey alike as it sat on the sea floor.
