Comb Jelly Ctentophora FossilComb jellies derive their name from the groups of cilia that allow them to move through the water column. They are known as far back in time as the Cambrian of Vertcal section of comb jellyChengjiang, the Burgess Shale of Canada, and the Wheeler Shale of Utah. Due to the fact that they are wholly soft-bodied, they are rarely seen as fossils, even from those well-known largerstatte, making this example most unusual as it comes from the younger Ordovician deposits of Morocco. Note the smaller second example in the background.
