Unusual Unknown Arthropod from Cambrian Utah

Euarthropoda (?)

Phylum Arthropoda

Geological Time: Upper Middle Cambrian

Size (25.4mm=1 inch): 38 mm long by 13 mm wide on a 28 mm by 65 mm matrix

Fossil Site: Weeks Formation, House Range, Millard County, Utah

Code: UB153

Price: Sold

Description: This is a most unusual arthropod from the Weeks Formation, one I have not come across before, nor described in the literature. It has a very long telson, much like Fuxianhuia protensa from the Chengjiang Biota (see my listings), but appears to be far closer in morphology to another soon-to-be-described Chengjiang Euarthropod shown in the last picture.

The fossil has a repaired matrix crack, a consequence of collection, but that does little to detract from this most unusual specimen, the ONLY such example I have been able to secure thus far.
