Description: This is a fine example of a pair of shrimp from the sublithographic limestone deposits of Nammoura, Lebanon, known as Carpopenaeus callirostris. They are found with a complete fish known as Arimigatus brevissimus. Shrimp today use their long antennae to stay in contact with conspefics while also using them as a early warning for predators. Perhaps these did as well. All are in a fine state of preservation, artistically displayed within this sublithographic limestone matrix. While most Lebanese fossil specimens come from Hajoula and Haqel, this one comes from Nammoura, a more infrequently-seen source for these fine fossils.
