Description: This is a fine example of a small lobster from the lithographic limestone deposits of Eichstatt, Germany, known as Eryma modestiformis. These 150 million year old deposits are famous for their exceptionally well-preserved organisms, the most famous of which are the handful of specimens of the ancient bird Archaeopteryx. Crustaceans such as this rarely remain in articulation, making this a fine piece. Notice the detailed preservation that includes the granulose exoskeleton and the fine fan-like telson. This is a top-notch example of the type of preservation for which this deposit is world-renowned.
