Peipiaosteus Fossil FishDescription: This fish is a member of the Acipenseriformes or Sturgeon-like fishes and a member of the recently-erected Peipiaostidae. It is the first of the Acipenseriformes discovered in China, and is closely related to Stichopterus. This one portrays excellent preservation of the head, fins and caudal fin. Note the fine body outline detail. It would make an excellent example of a fossil from the “feathered dinosaur” region of China to add to your fossil fish collection.
