Henricia Starfish FossilsDescription: Well-preserved examples of a member of the Asteroidea, or True Sea Stars. While it looks more like a brittlestar due to the slender arms, members of Asteroideathe family Echiasteridae are known by the common term slender-armed sea stars. There are some fifty extant species that make their living filtering out phytoplankton. The site has been closed to collecting for some time now, so specimens like this will be harder to replace. There is one repaired crack which was done when it was collected in the field. The species derives its name from the site where the specimens were found.
