Description: This plate shows a pair of crinoids. The larger has attached cirri which helped serve as an additional anchoring system to augment the roots. The detail here is quite amazing with the attached segmented stems, pinnules, and cirri preserved intact. This specimen must have been buried quickly as the echinoderms are known to quickly disarticulate after death. Notice there is also a tiny starfish to the right of the smaller crinoid.
