Australiceras AmmoniteDescription: This is an fine Austaliceras ammonite that has been professionally prepared to display its beauty in 3-D. It has been prepared in such a way that the ammonite self-displays on its matrix base, making it a suitable example for cabinet or desk. Note the spikes on the older parts of the ammonite closer to the center. When this one was small the spikes would have made it a less-palatable morsel. After it has sufficiently grown, such defenses were no longer necessary.
