Deschayesites AmmoniteDescription: This is a fine Deschaysites ammonite from the Cretaceous deposits of Russia. Much of the original shell is present. Where it is missing, the intricate suturing pattern is evident. The sutures provided strength to the shell with minimal weight, and important factor for a creature that had to be able to adjust its buoyancy to move easily through the water column. This one self-displays on its flattened matrix base with fragments of additional specimens evident.
