Anetoceras AmmoniteDescription: This ammonite is known as Anetoceras. It has an eye-catching form. The ammonites are either involute, in which successive whorls overlap each other, or evolute in which they do not. This is a more extreme form of an involute in that the successive whorls both increase in size and increase in separation in what is known as a gyrocone. This gyroconic form, as well as the ribbing make this a most aesthetic example. Much time was spent preparing the whorls free of matrix as you see them here.
