Large Jurassic Orthopteran Insect FossilDescription: The Daohuguo Beds in Inner Mongolia have yielded a fauna much like that of the somewhat younger Yixian Formation. This example is a member of the order to which grasshoppers, locust and crickets belong, the Orthoptera. The first members of the order appeared some 300 million years ago in China and France. Mesozoic examples in China are known from eastern Inner Mongolia, western Liaoning and northern Hebei with some 62 species in 41 genera having been recorded. This is a fine near complete example.
