Carcharodontosaurus saharicus Dinosaur ToothThis is a HUGE example of a tooth from the dinosaur Carcharodontosaurus saharicus coming from the Middle Cretaceous Albian Stage deposits south of Taouz in the Kem-Kem Basin of Morocco. Notice the serrations present. This was definitely a meat eater as the steak knife teeth well attest. Like most found, it is a shed tooth. Dinosaurs routinely replaced teeth as they grew, giving them a ready set to slice through meat as needed. This one is just over 3.1 inches measured along a diagonal, 1.2 inches wide at the base ,and 0.8 inches thick, making this a fine example of a tooth from a dino that rivalled T-Rex in size. The relatively thinner cross-section shows this one was more in the habit of stripping meat from the bones, rather than the bone-crusher the T-Rex is thought to have been.
