Rare Podoliproetus Proetid TrilobiteDescription: The Pragian Proetid trilobites are principally known from fragmentary material from Europe and Morocco. Over the past few years more complete specimens have been found. This one is a member of the genus Podoliproetis, and displays fine axial spines on the posterior portion of the thorax. Specimens are somewhat variable, with merest hints of nodes all the way to full-fledged spines as here shown. Whether the differences are due to possibly different species or differing quality of preparation is still to be determined. Whatever the case, this is only the second example I have ever had in five years
