Diminutive Cornuproetid Moroccan Trilobite

Cornuproetinae indet

Trilobites Order Proetida, Family Proetidae, Subfamily Cornuproetinae

Geological Time: Lower Devonian

Size: Trilobite is 11 mm long

Fossil Site: Taouz, Morocco

Cornuproetid Moroccan TrilobiteDescription: Unusual example of a member of the Order Proetida, this one is a member of the subfamily Cornuproetinae, a group that gives taxonomists fits. This one has short genals, a slightly pustulose body, and a readily-evident set of terrace lines to the preglabellar field. There are even eye facets present. Is this an immature form of some other member of the group or a full-grown example? I for one do not know, but I know it is the FIRST such example I have had.
