Flexicalymene granulosaDescription: Swatara Gap is famous for the ornate Cryptolithus and starfish fossils found for decades at this much beloved site. Unfortunately, it has been closed to collecting for a few years now. One of the lesser-known trilobite species found here are the Flexicalymene granulosa. Fortunately I was recently able to acquire two from an old collection forty years in the making. This is the smaller one of the two. It is just about perfect. It is comfortably prone on a small piece of shale, showing the classic rust orange color of Swatara Gap fossils. The only slight flaw is a bit of skin erosion showing on the upper right side anterior margin.
