Triarthrus spinosus TrilobiteDescription: Three long spines coming off the cephalon, thorax and pygidium easily identify Triarthrus spinosus. This specimen is a beautifully gold pyritized color, is 3D, and contrasts well against the black shale. Preservation wise, both of the lower spines are present. The cephalic occipital spine is missing, as the tip of the left genal spine. However, these are difficult trilobites to obtain. I have been futilely attempting for a few years to obtain some of these elusive pyritized Triarthrus. They are amongst my personal favorite genus of trilobites. Flawed though it may be, this would be a valuable addition to any trilobite collection.
