Barrandeops lebesus Moroccan TrilobiteDescription: Elegant example of a member of the Order Phacopida, Family Phacopidae with many fine details present. The most diagnostic features of this taxon are the fine schizochroal eyes and pustulose cepahlon. Within the last decade a myriad of new Phacopids have been named with this genus named for Joachim Barrande, a well-known 19th Century French researcher best known for his works on Czech trilobites. By virtue of the fact that this [one] posses 5-6 lenses in each vertical file it is Barandeops lebesus. While etymology of the genus name is easy to discern, the species derives its name for the Berber word for a kite (predatory bird). This one is well positioned on its matrix base.
