cleoniceras-besaireiDescription: This spectacular ammonite is a Cleoniceras besairei from Madagascar which has been split in half and polished to show the wonderful detail within. Some of the individual chambers are open and filled with rich mahogany-colored Calcite crystals, with the septa (divisions) between each chamber preserved as white Calcite, making for a superb display piece. In addition some of the original shell on the exterior shows the opalescent fire for which these ammonites are also known. This is a fine example of an ammonite from the Albian (112 million year old) deposits of Madagascar, one that is sure to be a fine addition to any ammonite collection.
